Step 2 for purchasing a quality home comfort system that's Built To Last™

Step 2: Smart system design and installation

Last month we discussed things you should consider when selecting new HVAC equipment. In this post, we'll talk about how to design and implement a heating and cooling system that's built to last in Torrance CA.

Two crucial design considerations
HVAC systems, like homes, aren't all built the same. Homeowners and HVAC contractors need to take careful considerations about what kind of system will work best for each unique house.

Two of the most important aspects to consider are:
  • Sizing. A new A/C unit needs to be sized to correspond to certain qualities of the house: how big it is, what direction it faces, how well it's insulated, and how much window space it has. An undersized unit simply won't work as well as it's supposed to. An oversized unit can make the inside air unhealthily humid or cause excessive strain on the compressor.
  • Air duct condition. Return and supply air duct systems are often undersized, making it hard for airflow to happen as it should. They should also be properly installed and balanced to maximize comfort and energy cost savings.
The installation process

Quality contractors, like us at Red Apple Air, stick to a reliable chain of procedures to follow with every new HVAC unit installation:

  • Pre-installation. The customer agrees to the air conditioning option they've selected and makes a down payment. Red Apple confirms the installation, estimates the time it will take (usually one to four days), and schedules a visit.
  • During installation. Red Apple technicians arrive and protect the home's floors with drop cloths. We also suggested moving or covering valuable items for safety. We remove old A/C installations for free. During installation, the customer should expect some amount of dust and drilling sounds. Our team takes before and after photos of your new installation. Immediately after it's complete, we perform quality assurance, resolve any additional issues, and clean up our trash and debris.
  • Post-installation. Red Apple arranges for a HERS rating test to get a permit to run the unit from city inspectors. We take care of issues that need to be corrected before the permit is issued. Red Apple then mails the official warranty certificate, covering labor and maintenance according to the level of coverage the customer has chosen.
